Snack Attack

So, I am dead tired (as it is just after 3:30 am here), but I wanted to get this post up so I could share what I’ve been working on all day today. I’ve gotten some interesting e-mails over the last day or so and it’s really forced me to get my act together. They’ve all been good e-mails, but I hate that it took getting these e-mails, to get my butt in gear. I guess we all need a push once in a while, right?

Every time I begin to have doubts or whatever about my business, something always happens that gives me a glimmer of hope. Something that gives me the push to keep moving forward. Trust me, some days, it’s not easy. Being a stay-at-home mom (while balancing a business) is tough. Being a stay-at-home mom by itself, is a tough gig. Don’t get me wrong. I love it, but it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. I’ve worked corporate jobs for many years and looking back, they were a breeze compared to parenthood.

I’ve been working super late the past few nights trying to get things ready for an upcoming trade show. I’m not going to be attending the show, but my products will be shown by my sales rep, so I’ve been working hard on getting all the materials she needs to put on a great show! Looking forward to a nice break…someday. Now, back to those e-mails…

I’ve had these snack bags in my line for about 5 months now. I haven’t had a chance to get them onto my website just yet. Part of it was due to lack of time (that will be my excuse every time…just warning you!) and part of it was that I really wanted to put individual photos of each of the finished snack bags in all of the different fabrics I offer. Unfortunately, that still hasn’t happened yet. Fast forward to today or I guess it was technically yesterday since I’m writing this the next day :) I received an e-mail from a customer letting me know that she had bought some of these snack bags in one of the stores that carries my line, but when she checked on my website, she couldn’t find them. BUSTED! Well now, I can’t just reply back to her and tell her that I don’t have them on there…..that would be lame. Besides, have you met me? If you know me at all, you know I’m very goal-oriented, over-achiever, type A (you know, your typical nightmare–haha!). So I did what any “normal” business owner would do. I spent ALL DAY updating all of the images from my website pages. That just means that each category has a “page” with an image on it and I just swapped them out so they would all be consistent with the NEW snack bags that I have now decided to add to my website. I still don’t have finished photos of all the bags, so I did the best I could, with what I had…..which meant revamping the entire look of my images! Pheww! I’m exhausted just talking about it. Nothing like just diving into a new project!

It’s been about 1 1/2 years since my website has been updated, so naturally, it was time for a little refreshing :) I wanted to go with a cleaner look and feel for the images. What do you think?

And, let’s not forget what started all this…the snack bags! Here’s what I came up with:

So, what do you think? Did I achieve my goal of simplifying the images? Do they look “cleaner?” I love the new look and couldn’t be happier at how it all turned out. Sometimes, you just need that extra push to get something done. You MAKE the time to get. it. done! See, I will just take the time away from sleeping, to get things done…and you know how much I adore my sleep :)

Goodnight!
